Lung Cancer Screening
Who Are We
Scan2Save is a proud member of the American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative (ALCSI).
ALCSI is a non-profit, dedicated to raising awareness for lung cancer and lung cancer screening.
Lung Cancer is a risk for all, even non smokers.
We are dedicated to raising awareness and increasing lung cancer screening in Egypt, helping our community understand their eligibility and directing them to qualified screening locations.
Lung cancer is often silent, and that’s what makes it dangerous. Risks could include:
- Second hand smoking exposure
- Air pollution
- Radon exposure (natural radioactive gas that can accumulate indoors in poorly ventilated spaces)
- Occupational exposure (inhaling harmful dust, fumes or chemicals at work over time e.g. factories, mining, etc.)
- Genetics / Family history
We want to turn awareness into action, so fewer families have face something that could have been caught earlier.
We want to make sure more people know that early screening exists, and that it could make a difference.
Detect Early.
Breathe Longer.
Myth Vs Fact
Empowering our community with knowledge is the first step toward early detection. Below, we break down common misconceptions specific to lung health in our region.
Myth
Only smokers in urban centers are at high risk of developing lung cancer.
Environmental triggers and genetics are silent factors. Lung cancer affects many non-smokers in Egypt, making early awareness vital for everyone.
Fact
Myth
I don't need a scan if I have no pain or chronic cough.
Fact
Lung cancer often develops without warning signs. Screening finds it in the earlier stages when it is most responsive to treatment.
Myth
A lung cancer scan is a difficult and uncomfortable procedure.
Fact
Low-dose CT scans are simple and non-invasive. The entire process takes less than a minute of your time.
